How to format DVD-RW discs

If you do not have SwiftDisc Burning Wizard, you can download it from http://www.swiftdisc.com. The program comes in two editions: Standard and Premium. The instructions below are for SwiftDisc Burning Wizard 2.30. The steps may be different if you are using a different version of SwiftDisc.

You can start the program by double-clicking the "SwiftDisc Burning Wizard" icon on your desktop. After starting SwiftDisc Burning Wizard, you will initially be shown "About" dialog box. Press "Continue" to close it.

Go to the Toolbox by clicking on the “Toolbox” button. 

You should see the following screen:

Choose the tool depending on the type of the disc you want to format / erase.  We will use the "Format DVD-RW" tool here. 

3. Choose a device

Select a DVD device. Information about the selected device and the disc in it is displayed below the device list. Press the “Next” button to continue.

4. Select format method.

Select "Quick Format" and press the "Finish" button.

5. Wait for the format process to finish 

The format will take some time depending on the selected format method. 

After the format finishes, press "Exit" to close the program, or "Continue" to return to the start screen.
