SwiftDisc 2.31 has been released. There are major updates in a few areas:
- PrimoBurnerTM engine update
- Rip Audio CD options/formats interface modified
- Progress page enhancements
- An ISO image can be now drag-and-dropped for burning
- For Windows XP: Burn Rights tool added
In more detail:
PrimoBurner Engine
SwiftDisc 2.31 uses the latest PrimoBurnerTM engine, featuring updates in various areas including device handling, Audio CD burning and ripping, and other enhancements.
Rip Audio CD Modifications
The interface for Audio CD Ripping has changed.
- On the tracks list page, there are now buttons “Select All” and “Unselect All”:
- Changes to Audio Format page
This page has been changed the most. In the older version, choosing the specific settings for WMA and OGG formats used to be done from a drop-down across from the respective format.
Now, those drop-downs have been replaced by “Change” buttons:
Pressing the button takes you to a new dialog where you can select the format you want your music saved into.
If you would prefer a specific settings combination to be the one selected every time you open SwiftDisc and choose that format, you can save your preference by using the “Set As Default” checkbox.
The settings available depend on the codecs installed on your computer that are relevant to the respective format.
Progress Page Enhancements
The enahncement on the progress page are:
- For Rip Audio CD projects, the progress of each track is written as a percentage in the “Status” column
- For Data Projects with disc spanning, you can now:
- See the number of the disc that is currently being burned
- See the progress of the burning over the discs of the overall project
- For all projects, if there is an error or if you cancel the burning, now there is a “Back” button that allows you to return to an earlier page in the wizard and modify your project.
ISO Image Drag-And-Drop
Besides using the “Browse” button available at the Select ISO Image page this far, now you can directly drag-and-drop an ISO image into the selection box with your mouse.
Burn Rights Tool
This enhancement is valid only for Windows XP, where non-administrator users could not have access to the optical devices for burning.
The Burn Rights tool allows the administrator to enable the devices for all or a select group of users on the computer.
When you install SwiftDisc Burning Wizard, now there is a group in the Start Menu:

If you are using Windows XP, the contents of that group include both SwiftDisc Burning Wizard and the Burn Rights tool:

You will need to run the tool as an Administrator:

Then simply follow the steps of the wizard to grant access to the burners to the desired users of the computer.
